Olive Hill Emerald Tile - 6" x 6"
Barnsdall Art Park, home to the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Hollyhock House, overlooks Los Angeles from atop Olive Hill. In the early 1900s, heiress Aline Barnsdall envisioned the property as a new artistic community to be comprised of more than 40 buildings designed by Wright. Most of these buildings were planned but never constructed, like a school called the “Little Dipper” Community Playhouse.
Wright’s “Little Dipper” plans incorporated many textile block designs, including the one that inspired Motawi Tileworks’ 6x6 Olive Hill tile. Wright’s unexecuted design now finds new life in ceramic as a Motawi decorative tile and installation element.
Actual Tile Size: Approximately 5 7/8” x 5 7/8”.
Each Motawi tile is crafted by hand, so dimensions may vary slightly by up to 1/16".
- Tiles are 5/8" thick and have a notch at the back for hanging.
