FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT IMPERIAL HOTEL CHINA
The Imperial Hotel (1912-1922) put Frank Lloyd Wright on the map as a global architect. The Hotel became an important landmark when it survived the great Kanto earthquake on its opening day in 1923. For decades, the Hotel served as an architectural icon for the city of Tokyo until it was demolished in 1968.
The entire property was richly embellished with murals, carvings, rugs, furniture, and other decorative items devised by Wright, including the China tableware he created for the Cabaret dining space, which is the inspiration for this design.
