The Prairie Years FLW in Oak Park & River Forest Book

$28.00 USD
279000

The first house Frank Lloyd Wright designed in Oak Park, in 1889, was the first house he ever designed. From that Queen Anne / Shingle style home, built for himself and his first wife, Catherine Tobin Wright, his architectural vision evolved from traditional house plans to his now-famous Prairie-style residences. The last house he designed for Oak Park, the Florence and Harry S. Adams House of 1913, was one of his final Prairie houses, as he continued to explore new approaches to architecture.
The Prairie Years presents twenty-seven Wright homes and Unity Temple, his first public
building, located in Oak Park and River Forest, Illinois, in chronological order, documenting
one of the most influential periods of the architect’s career. More than one hundred photographs of the buildings’ exteriors and interiors appear here, accompanied by descriptive captions and text.
